SoftInventive Lab announces Total Network Inventory 2, a versatile network and software inventory program. The update features asynchronous network view that promotes blazing fast network discovery, while the Actions mechanism allows execution of typical and user-defined commands for better flexibility.
Total Network Inventory is a well-known and highly acclaimed hardware audit and software management solution. Though small-scale networks usually do not require any tools to perform complete inventory of the components and software licenses, major networks with hundreds of geographically scattered computers online require a whole lot of time, efforts and money.
Total Network Inventory is specially tailored for large-scale networks. Using advanced mechanisms it scans the net for all available Windows, Linux and Mac computers and displays a thorough hardware inventory and software accounting reports for each of them. Importantly, the program gathers all the data without a client module installed onto each computer, only an administrator password of a machine is needed.
The new TNI 2 features a number of innovations greatly improving both speed and friendliness of the program. One of the major improvements is asynchronous and Nmap-powered network discovery modes. Comparing with the conventional approach, these methods are much faster and more powerful too. In particular, a /24 IP range (254 IP addresses) gets scanned in merely a second! Also, with Nmap it is possible to obtain some information about an asset even if it refuses to be scanned by the program.
Another important novelty is the Action system. Actions are standard and user-defined macros executing commands, applications or scripts. With Actions shutting down a remote computer, opening a web page or even emulating key presses is equally easy.
Featuring much more than can fit a press-release, Total Network Inventory 2 offers flexible scheduling, customized table reports, powerful filters and a range of handy capabilities to make the work of a system administrator much easier.
Pricing and availability
Total Network Inventory 2 supports Windows OSes from XP to 8. The starter license for 25 network nodes costs $99.
