Tyre for F1 cars hard and soft in Belgium

The Formula One World Championship is now over, in fact, missing only seven races, and thanks to a drivers’ championship still to fully play, each team spends up to get the best result.

In the drivers’ standings, postings are very low, In fact between the first and third driver in the standings we are only ten points, which would then all players in the league title to play the final making it much more exciting.

The next race will be held in Belgium in the circuit of Spa-Francorchamps circuit, a very beautiful and spectacular but also particularly challenging because most along the entire league, full of curves spectacular, because it is extremely technical and fast, from certainly include the Eau Rouge corner, we are facing about 220 km / h curve Blanchimont, the latter faster than any Formula One.

Just large stresses that occur during path has forced the development of tyre car more competitive and resilient, enabling have the best performance in curves so fast.

In fact just for this race, the companies that in the tyre distribution, will offer the only teams to mix hard and soft tires, avoiding the most sensitive ultrasoft.

Fishbook.com, the free one stop website for anglers around the world, casts off

fishbook Fishbook.com, the free one stop website for anglers around the world, casts off

Passionate anglers launch Fishbook.com – a website seeking to give fishermen worldwide a community to share knowledge, catches, venues and much more…

United Kingdom - 2 years ago, Steve Forehead, a committed fisherman, noticed that there was a void on the internet for dedicated angling ‘community’ websites. Together with his business partner, another fisherman, they brainstormed ideas and came up with the concept that has now become Fishbook.com.

The aim of the project is to provide a dedicated community which is designed by anglers, for anglers. The website is organic and will evolve as the needs and wishes of its members change.

keith wood Fishbook.com, the free one stop website for anglers around the world, casts off

Keith Wood aka Carp King of FishBook.com with a 4lb 6oz Crucian
- a few ounces short the British record

There are many websites on the internet that are for anglers, but these tend to be forum-driven whereas Fishbook.com is based around a community concept. Anglers can sign up for free, display their past and present catches, record their fishing trips, analyse them, share experiences and invite their friends on future sessions.

Global Angling Community

Although primarily for the UK, the website has been designed so it can be joined and utilised anywhere in the world. Future expansion of the site will take in specific regional requirements to cater for those anglers based in other countries.

One innovative feature of the website is that each individual venue listed becomes a micro site within the main site, all the details are recorded and once members start fishing there, a catch report for that specific venue is recorded for all other members to see.

Whispers from the bank

Another feature of the site coming soon will be the ability for members to upload their catches live from the bank (whispers from the bank) using their mobile phone. In this way, their session can be followed by their friends, wherever they are.

Fishing Competitions

There will be many competitions running with various prizes to be won. From trophies to respected brands of fishing tackle. All of the registered members on the website will be entered automatically once they land an eligible verified catch.

“We’re reaching out to all anglers, everywhere – come and join the revolution that is Fishbook.com!” says Steve Forehead.

Basse-Normandie’s 8,300 horse breeders, 10,000 births a year, 4,400 businesses and 10,000 jobs make it France’s leading horse-breeding region. Hosting over 1,000 competitions a year, it is one of the few parts of the world where galloping, trotting and equestrian sports are represented at the highest level. The equine industry is developing around four sites: Saint-Lô for breeding and raising sport horses, the Haras du Pin for training, tourism and equestrian events, Deauville for races and Caen for research and innovation. Basse-Normandie, a research leader, boasts a horse pathology institute, the only one of its kind in the world.

Getting into kitesurfing

London, 15th July 2010 – Kitesurfing is not exactly the new hot thing – the sport has a history of nearly three decades (after appearing during the early 1980s), but has only recently started to become popular world wide. A decade ago, there were not even a thousand kitesurfers around the world. By 2005, that number had rocketed to over 100,000 and it continues to grow.

The premise of the sport is simple: surfers use a large, resistant kite to acquire propulsion and ride a specialised board, which allows them to reach high speeds and use the thrust to perform eye-catching stunts. Thanks to its independent source of propulsion, kitesurfing can be done on a variety of surfaces that have a relatively low level of friction for the board. As the name implies, the sport is usually done on large bodies of water, such as lakes or beach shores, but can also be done on sand, snow and other surfaces.

Kitesurfing skills: hand signals

Most kitesurfers start learning basic hand signals on their first surfing lessons. A lot of times, however, the importance of learning the universal hand signals is not properly explained, and surfers are left without this vital skill. Hand signals are very useful when you want to give instructions to your assistant or communicate with someone on the beach and can also prevent accidents by alerting fellow surfers to potentially hazardous collisions.

At the very least, make sure you learn the signs used to request assistance in case you run into problems while you are surfing. You will find that the basic hand signals are pretty simple to learn and cover a variety of situations. As a bonus, knowing the hand signals will allow you to communicate with people that don’t speak the same language as you. Here is a sample of the most common hand signals to get you started:

Signal Meaning
Waving both hands in the air. I need help!
Tap your head with your hand. I’m going to land.
Make a thumbs-up sign and shout “Launch!” I’m ready to (or about to) launch.
Wave the control bar over your head. I need help with my equipment.
Raise your hands above your head and join your fingertips to form an *A* shape. Place the kite on the top.
Point at your eyes with two fingers. Look at me (or watch out for me).
Stretch your arms towards the sea with your index finger pointing out. Head towards the sea.
Stretch your arms towards the shore with your index finger pointing out. Head towards the shore.

Starting your journey or taking it to the next level

Getting started with kitesurfing is much easier than it was a decade ago. There are more instructors, the equipment has become more readily available and there are ways you can try the activity to see if it’s something you’d like to invest your time in. Companies such as Exelement can offer you a variety of packages to try it for the first time or to get started with kitesurfing lessons from pros such as James Boulding (the equivalent of getting track driving tips from Jenson Button).

[The Carlsberg Team Talk TV Ad]

This Carlsberg Team Talk Ad is part of Carlsberg’s wider campaign to inspire the England football team this summer. Since February, the brewer has been asking fans to show their support by creating their own England Team Talk and has now unveiled its own version.

The Carlsberg Team Talk Ad begins two minutes before kick-off with Stuart Pearce delivering some final words of inspiration in the dressing room, we then follow the team on their way to the pitch being spurred on by the likes of Sir Ian Botham, Four-time World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty and five-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave.

Having been cheered through the tunnel by a shirtless Jeff Stelling complete with St. George’s Cross body paint – the final scene of the advert sees the team being led out of the tunnel by Bobby Moore alongside a lion as they prepare to take on the world.

Sir Steve Redgrave said “We had a lot of fun creating this advert with Carlsberg and it was amazing to see so many English champions getting involved in the project. England have got a great chance at this summer’s tournament, I hope we have helped to get the nation behind the team and spur them on to victory in South Africa.”

The Carlsberg Team Talk Ad was filmed on location at the ‘The Den’, the home of Millwall FC. With so many celebrities, sport stars and extras on set, the filming of the advert was done on a massive scale. The cast members also appear in some behind the scenes filming and interviews that can also be seen at http://www.englandteamltalk.com.

Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic Launches Superadvanced Motorcycle Training in the UK

Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic Logo

The High Performance Street Riding School, Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic, has just made Superadvanced motorcycle training – devised by Lee Parks – available in the UK

Stratford upon Avon, UK – The Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic (Total Control ARC) in Stratford upon Avon has officially opened this week. The American champion rider, Lee Parks, created his unique take on motorcycle training in 1994. It is now well established in the USA and, after some test events, it is now available in the UK.
Simultaneously with the launch of the Total Control ARC, is the launch of its website at http://www.totalcontroltraining.co.uk

Superadvanced Motorcycle Training in progress
Superadvanced Motorcycle Training in progress

The term “Superadvanced” was specially coined to describe the type of training given at the clinic and to set it apart from what it is often confused with: “Advanced (or Enhanced) Riding”.

In the UK, Advanced Riding is where a policeman or a Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents instructor, or an Institute of Advanced Motorists instructor would take someone out onto the roads and show them how they can minimise hazards through using “The System”.

“This is not what we do,” explains Duncan Mackillop (Principal of Total Control in the UK) who delivers the Superadvanced motorcycle training itself. “What we teach here is fundamentally different to the methods taught in every other riding school in the country. They teach, essentially, about planning for and managing the hazards that you would encounter every day when out riding your bike.”

Although Total Control does cover how riders interact with the environment, especially the management of corners, it also covers, in much greater depth, how the rider and machine interact. It is very difficult to cover these elements in depth out on the road as the environment is ever changing and the feedback loop between rider and machine changes with the environment. Total Control provides a consistent environment in the form of its training ground, so that the feedback between rider and bike is more obvious. This feedback that results from the consistent environment, is at the heart of the practical element of Total Control.

Another major difference is that, with “The System”, riders have little opportunity to discover how their mental state has such a profound effect on their riding. The Total Control Clinics give a series of short lectures between the practical exercises, that show how mental states such as fear, can be detrimental to the safe conduct of their ride due to their effect upon certain factors such as throttle control, body position and traction. The lectures also give a rider a much better understanding of how the inputs they make to the bike affect their ability to remain in control.

“As we say at the beginning of the clinic, Total Control teaches you the “real stuff” that you just can’t learn in school. i.e. you learn a lot from normal Advanced Riding schools, but with Total Control, you begin to understand the really important things that simply cannot be learnt out on the road. If “The System” is represented by Advanced training, then Total Control is represented by Superadvanced training, as it expands upon what you have already learned from Advanced training,” adds Duncan.

Total Control ARC recommends that every rider get hold of a copy of Total Control: High-Performance Street Riding Techniques by Lee Parks, which is the second-biggest selling motorcycle-riding self-help book in the US, second only to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Guide To Motorcycling Excellence, (the American version of the UK’s Roadcraft – The Police Riders Guide to Better motorcycling). The book can be ordered online through Total Control ARC’s website http://www.totalcontroltraining.co.uk.

About Total Control ARC
The Total Control ARC has a solution for those experienced riders who want to be able to further enhance their skills in a controlled environment with expert instruction. The Total Control System was devised by motorcycle championship-winner and Chief instructor, Lee Parks, who had been racing for 25 years. He then spent five years as the editor and chief test rider of Motorcycle Consumer News where he road tested every new street motorcycle available in the U.S. and became one of the top performance-testing journalists in the world. Lee’s staff of personally-trained instructors make Total Control available all over the U.S. and Europe. In the UK, Total Control Superadvanced Riding Clinics are delivered by Duncan MacKillop and Penny Glover, both of whom have a wealth of experience in Superadvanced rider training.
