Eurotech presents DuraNAS 1000 Rugged Network Attached Storage for harsh environment applications.

DuraNAS 1000 rugged network attached storage (NAS) for harsh environment applications

Eurotech DuraNAS 1000Amaro (Italy), February 16th, 2010 – Eurotech, a leading supplier of embedded technologies, announces availability of the DuraNAS 1000 rugged Network Attached Storage (NAS).

  • Ideal for Public Transportation, Security and Defense markets
  • Video surveillance and multimedia applications
  • Compact enclosure with standard M12 connector for data storage in a harsh environment
  • Up to 1 TB of storage – Solid State Disk versions – RAID 1 storage
  • POE: no need for an external power supply
  • Quick and easy setup thanks to its DHCP client interface
  • Fully compliant with EN 50155 for rolling stock installations
  • Wide operating temperature range

The DuraNAS 1000 provides reliable high capacity Network Attached Storage (NAS) to IP-based systems installed on rolling stocks as well as in all applications where a rugged device designed for harsh environment is required.

The DuraNAS 1000 is ideally suited to complement the DuraCOR-NVR video recording system by providing expandable and removable mass storage for compressed video data.

The DuraNAS 1000 is a network device which can be accessed from anywhere the network is accessible, even from remote locations.

An Ethernet interface to mass storage is a reliable interconnection technology in harsh environment applications where EMC and immunity to electromagnetic interference are key requirements. Long cables are supported and the inherent insulation of Ethernet increases the operational reliability of the DuraNAS 1000 compared to other technologies such as USB2.0.

A high-performance NAS controller chip is used to bridge two 2.5” form factor SATA HDDs to a 10/100Mbit Ethernet interface.

Extensive measures have been taken to ensure reliable operation under all conditions and compatibility with internationally respected standards. The sealed Ethernet I/O connector, a Power Over Ethernet (POE) power supply and a compact rugged mechanical enclosure increase field reliability.

The Eurotech NAS system is intended to be used together with an external DuraCOR NVR and provides storage for up to 30 days of compressed video. Two DuraNAS 1000 can be joined for redundancy or capacity expansion.

Intel Atom-based Tactical Mission Computer Subsystem with MIL-STD-1553 Displayed by Parvus at AFCEA West

Eurotech Parvus Duracor820-ADuraCOR 820-A Optimized for Size, Weight and Power Constrained Unmanned Aerial & Tactical Wheeled Vehicle Computing Platforms

Amaro (ITALY), February 1, 2010. (ETH.MI) Eurotech subsidiary Parvus Corporation will preview a new MIL-COTS rugged mission computer subsystem based on the low-power Intel Atom Z530 1.6GHz processor with Gigabit Ethernet and MIL-STD-1553 databus connectivity at Booth #1411 of the AFCEA/USNI West 2010 Conference. AFCEA West is the largest defense and technology exposition and conference on the West Coast, being held at the San Diego Convention Center Feb. 2-4

Optimally designed for Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP)-constrained military / aerospace vehicle and aircraft installations, the new DuraCOR 820-A small form-factor rugged processor delivers processing and multimedia performance comparable (or better) to Pentium M-based DuraCOR solutions, but with less power consumption, double the RAM memory capacity, and dual Flash Solid State Disks (SSDs). The system is equipped with a 28V high efficiency power supply compliant with MIL-STD-1275 and MIL-STD-704 voltages, spikes, and surges, which makes the unit compatible with not only airborne, but also military ground vehicle platforms. System I/O includes 1x Gigabit Ethernet, 1x MIL-STD-1553, 3x USB 2.0, 2x RS-232, 2x PS/2, 8 DIO, and VGA, which are brought out through lightweight, high-density MIL-38999-like connectors, making the product an ideal solution for a variety of unmanned and manned command and control (C2) applications.

The DuraCOR 820-A offers a compact mechanical design (~3lbs weight, ~ 3.0” height) very similar in form factor to flight-qualified legacy Parvus DuraCOR 820 systems currently deployed in unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) and other military applications. The unit is fanless, conduction cooled and designed for use under extended temperature (-40 to +71C) and other demanding MIL-STD-810F environmental conditions (thermal, shock, vibration, altitude, humidity). The new 820-A model offers enhanced ingress protection from dust and water immersion, along with improved filtering and shielding from EMI/EMC conditions. The system is designed to meet and will undergo MIL-STD-810F and MIL-STD-461E environmental and emissions/susceptibility qualification testing as it prepares for production.

For application flexibility, the unit comes with a 4GB industrial SSD pre-loaded with a Linux or Windows Embedded operating system, as well as a 16 GB Compact Flash disk for file storage. The unit is based on a modular PC/104-Plus open architecture, making it possible to customize/special order and meet program-specific I/O requirements. For programs requiring additional I/O expansion capabilities, Parvus offers the DuraCOR 810 and DuraCOR 810-Duo platforms, which feature up to 6x PC104(+) expansion slots.

AVAILABILITY

The DuraCOR 820-A is currently in pre-production. Official pricing is not yet available. MIL-STD qualification testing should begin later in Q1 2010 with production to follow.

Greener, smarter, faster: Eurotech presents Aurora, the petascale HPC solution at SC09 in Portland (USA)

Eurotech presents Aurora, the lean, smart supercomputing solution that can grow with less. With Aurora, users can now have a Supercomputing system that is light on the TCO and easy to scale up to the PetaFLOP and beyond.

Eurotech AuroraPortland, OR (USA) – 16 November 2009. Aurora has been designed to deliver more: more number crunching, more scalability, more energy savings and more compatibility with existing software applications and environments.
“Aurora is the smart system for a resource conscious world”, said Giampietro Tecchiolli, Eurotech Group VP and CTO, “With Aurora it is possible to achieve unprecedented scalability and energy savings; in designing Aurora, we have taken a radical approach to efficiency, both in raw performance and in TCO management”.

Sporting the new Intel® Xeon® 5500 processor, Aurora is Intel® Cluster Ready Certified and offers the fullest compatibility with the existing X86 software applications and development tools.

“Intel® Cluster Ready certification reduces the risks and challenges of deployment and speeds time to productive results for highly scalable HPC Clusters” said Richard Dracott, General Manager, HPC, Intel . “By establishing a hardware and software basis for clustered systems, Intel Cluster Ready certification helps HPC users rapidly realize the great TCO and performance benefits of Xeon 5500 based Aurora clusters.”

Aurora delivers high end features, such as 100Gb/s cluster interconnect bandwidth per node, with a 60Gb/s 3D torus and a 40Gb/s Infiniband interface; multilevel synchronization networks for highly efficient scalability, and an on board, programmable accelerator that can be used to implement highly optimized algorithms.
Another exclusive feature is the ultra-precise liquid cooling system, which keeps the tightest control over the temperature of every component, ensuring the best operating conditions and exceptional savings compared to air cooling.
In Aurora, the traditional sources of failure have been removed: there are no mechanical parts, thanks to liquid cooling and the Intel® Solid State Disks; memory reliability and performance are exceptional thanks to a groundbreaking coupling technology and the multi-level monitoring and control system provides a flexible infrastructure to implement fault tolerance schemes.
